Pesa Civils have an impressive asset register of drills; each specifically designed for our clients specific needs.

Our ten ton drill rig is used for long distance drilling and can cover up to 200 meters of continuous drilling. With this machine we can drill diameters ranging from 110mm up to 800mm. HDPE sleeves catering for pressurized infrastructure needs such as gas lines, bulk water networks and even sewer lines are effortlessly inserted using this machine. Making use of state of the art radar equipment, we are able to steer the drill bit thus ensuring minimum threat of damage to existing infrastructure and also 100% accuracy of exit points.

Our competitive advantage is vested in the knowledge and experience our drillers have gained during the last 5 years and their ability to plan, map and execute drilling work with hassle free accuracy.

We also have smaller hydraulic pit-launch drills, used mainly where space is a limiting factor. They can drill diameters ranging from 25mm to 300mm and can cover continuous drilling lengths of up to 40 meters. More flexible sleeves are then inserted to cater for services such as housing developments, fiber optics, telecommunications and electricity connections.

A rock drill was also recently added to our asset register catering for areas where very hard soil conditions pose difficulty. Opposite our rock drill, we also have moles, which are perfect for use where soil conditions are soft. Both these extremes are powered by air. The use of this equipment speeds up the drilling process substantially and assist when tight schedules needs to be adhered to. .

Before any work commence we sweep the road surface to pinpoint the exact location of existing infrastructure below the road surface using our RD8000 cable locator. These are then compared with way-leaves and site walks to ensure all existing infrastructure were taken into account. It is then mapped on a drill plan and drill bits are steered as accurately as reasonably possible according to these plans. This substantially reduces the risk of any damage..

As part of our drilling service to clients, we also do pipe welding, thus further alleviating the burden for our clients. Past pressure tests done on our welds were able to withstand pressures of up to 21bars. We cater for diameters ranging from 75mm to 250mm. Upon request electricity cables and like services can be drawn into sleeves using our equipment, thus further saving time and providing a service to enhance our client relations.

Except for these main services, Pesa Civils can also assist with way leave applications and other statutory requirements and permissions before drilling projects can commence.
